Shushtar/ Darolmomenin ( the city of pious people)

Shushtar is an ancient city of Iran, Khuzestan province which is located in Zagros foothill. Geographically, from the north the city leads to Gotvand, from the east it leads to Masjed Soleyman, from the south to Ahvaz and from the west to Shush. Shushtar has warm summers and moderate mediterranean winters. Shushtar is one of the important historical cities of Iran with a lot of historical heritage.

There are many good restaurants in the city that you can go and try delicious food, for example: Mostofi museum ‘s restaurant which is a great historical place, CTO Fast Food, Pardis-e Soleyman, Baghesha and Shabestan traditional restaurants, Toranj and Snack Khanevadeh Fast Food.

Shopping in Shushtar is really desirable since the city has great handicrafts as well as delicious souvenirs. Textile, Ahram, Prayer Rug, Jajim, Traditional jewellery and Pottery are the handicrafts of the city. Cookie, Persian carrot, Tahini( Ardeh), Halva Shekari, Halva Konjedi ( sesame Halva), and Halva Ghobeyt are the delicious souvenirs of Shushtar. You can buy the souvenirs of the city from Mahestan shopping center and Shushtar Bazaar.

Shushtar is a very beautiful city with many natural and historical attractions to visit. The city has 15 ancient monuments that are called “ Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System “ and they are registered as UNESCO World Heritage. Shushtar has other attractions such as: Waterfalls and Watermills that are the most largest industrial complex built before the Industrial Revolution, Shadravan Bridge ( Kaisar Dam) that is one of the oldest bridges in the world, Shushtar Jame Mosque that is a beautiful historical mosque related to the early Islam, Lashkar Bridge that is the most intact bridge remains from the Sassanid era, Mizan Dam which is a handmade bridge related to Sassanid era, Mostofi Historical  House, Salasal Castle, and Marashi Historical House.
