Living with the nomads of Iran Tour
1 1 1 1 1

Another Nomadic Experience Tour where you can spend extended time living with the nomads of Iran:

This tour gives you a deeper, more extended immersion in the nomadic lifestyle, allowing you to live alongside the Qashqai or Bakhtiari tribes and truly understand the daily challenges and rewards of nomadic living. It’s an unforgettable experience for those looking to get off the beaten path and connect deeply with Iran's rich cultural heritage.

Day 1: Arrival in Tehran

  • Arrive in Tehran and transfer to your accommodation.

  • Explore the capital at your leisure, perhaps visiting Tehran’s National Museum or Darband, a beautiful hillside area, to get a taste of urban life before heading into the heart of nomadic Iran.

Day 2: Tehran to Kerman and Mahan

  • Travel to Kerman: Start your journey south to Kerman, a city steeped in history and a gateway to Iran’s nomadic regions.

  • Visit Mahan, where you'll have an introduction to the Kerman desert and meet the nomads who temporarily settle in this area during different seasons.

  • Stay in a traditional nomadic settlement or guesthouse to acclimatize.

Day 3: Kerman to Shiraz and the Nomadic Village

  • Drive to Shiraz, passing through stunning landscapes where you’ll encounter migrant nomadic tribes.

  • Once in Shiraz, head out to a nomadic village in the nearby countryside, such as the Qashqai or Bakhtiari tribes, and begin your immersion in the nomadic lifestyle.

  • Stay with the tribe in tents or yurts, and experience their everyday routines like milking goats, herding sheep, or traditional cooking.

Day 4: Living with the Nomads – Day 1

  • Live with the Nomads: Start your day early by assisting in the herding of livestock, an essential part of nomadic life.

  • Learn traditional weaving or carpet-making techniques from skilled artisans who have passed down their knowledge through generations.

  • Share meals with the family, experiencing nomadic food, such as kebab, dried yogurt (kashk), and fresh bread, while learning about the cultural significance behind each dish.

Day 5: Living with the Nomads – Day 2

  • Spend another full day with the nomadic tribe, assisting with daily tasks such as milking the animals, gathering firewood, and setting up camp.

  • Participate in a nomadic celebration if one is happening during your visit – these could include traditional dances, music, and stories around the campfire.

  • You’ll sleep in a yurt or traditional tent and experience life without modern conveniences.

Day 6: The Nomadic Migration

  • Travel with the Tribe: Accompany the tribe as they migrate to a new location. Whether they are heading for higher ground or greener pastures, this is your chance to experience their way of life during migration.

  • Set up camp together at their new location, and assist with creating shelters and preparing the evening meal.

Day 7: Return to Shiraz

  • Say your goodbyes and return to Shiraz, where you can explore the city’s beautiful gardens, such as Eram Garden, and historical landmarks like Nasir al-Mulk Mosque.

  • Enjoy a relaxing evening in the city after your immersive experience in nomadic life.

Day 8: Departure from Shiraz

  • Transfer to Shiraz International Airport for your departure flight.
