🔶 Day 1: Arrival in Kerman

  • Arrive in Kerman, one of the historical gateways to the southeast desert region.

  • Visit the Ganjali Khan Complex, a Safavid-era bazaar and bathhouse

  • Tour Jabalieh Dome, a mysterious ancient structure made of stone

  • Prepare for desert travel: shop for scarves, dates, and water

  • Overnight in a historical hotel in Kerman

Tip: Kerman is the main base for accessing the Lut Desert and has flights from major cities.


🔶 Day 2: Kerman – Shahdad Desert Camp

  • Drive to Shahdad, the entry point to Dasht-e Lut (approx. 2.5 hours)

  • Explore Shahdad palm groves, traditional qanats, and clay architecture

  • Enter the desert zone to see:

    • Nebkas (sand dunes with trees growing in the center)

    • The Gandom Beryan region, once recorded as the hottest surface temperature on Earth

  • Set up camp or stay in a desert ecolodge near Shahdad

  • Enjoy dinner, star-filled skies, and a peaceful desert night

Desert Fact: The Lut Desert is known for its strange geological features, including giant yardangs (Kaluts), and is devoid of permanent settlements.


🔶 Day 3: Kaluts – Sunrise to Sunset

  • Before dawn, head to the Kaluts, spectacular wind-sculpted rock formations unique to Lut

  • Sunrise hike among the Kaluts – best lighting for photography

  • Learn about the Aeolian erosion that created these massive ridges and formations

  • Midday rest in shaded desert lodge

  • Optional camel trek or 4x4 ride in the Kalut region

  • Sunset in the Kaluts: surreal views as light and shadow dance over the formations

  • Overnight in eco-camp or desert lodge


🔶 Day 4: Kaluts – Nayband Village

  • Travel to Nayband, a remote terraced village at the edge of the desert (approx. 5 hrs)

  • Visit the fortress-like houses stacked on the slope of a mountain — an oasis with a 2,000-year history

  • Learn about traditional desert agriculture, especially date and pomegranate farming

  • Walk around the natural spring, green terraces, and mudbrick homes

  • Enjoy a local dinner with villagers

  • Overnight in a home-stay or guesthouse


🔶 Day 5: Nayband – Mahan – Kerman

  • Depart Nayband and head back toward Kerman

  • En route stop in Mahan:

    • Visit Shazdeh Garden (Prince's Garden) – a paradise in the desert

    • See the shrine of Shah Nematollah Vali, a revered Sufi mystic

  • Return to Kerman

  • Free evening for relaxing or local shopping (pistachios, handmade carpets)

  • Overnight in Kerman


🔶 Day 6: Departure

  • Transfer to Kerman Airport for return flight

  • Optional extension to Rayen Castle, Bam, or Zein-o-din Caravanserai
