Khorramabad/ the city of waterfalls/ the capital of hidden treasures
Khorramabad city was the first Iranian residence. There are residential caves like Konji, Yafteh, Pasangar, Gerajneh, and Ghamari in Khorramabad valley that have the signs related to the dwellers of Musterian, Baradostian, Zarzian or in general Paleolithic eras. The evidence and experiments indicate that the monuments of the city are more than 40000 or 50000 years old. Khorramabad is the largest city of Iran in terms of occupying by Lur people and it is the capital of Lorestan province in the west of Iran.
Geographically, from the north the city leads to Selseleh county, from the northeast it leads to Borujerd county,from the east to Dorud and Aligudarz counties, from the south to Andimeshk county, from the west and southwest to Dowreh and Pol-e Dokhtar counties. Khorramabad has a moderate, semi-humid climate with a lot of rainfall especially in Spring. In the past there was a city at the current location of Khorramabad which name was “ Shapur Khast” and it was built by the order of Shapur II during Sassanid era and then the city was destroyed by the Mongols. Khorramabad is one of the important tourist cities of Iran with a lot of tourist and historical attractions. Khorramabad was also the capital of Hazaraspids and Hasanwayhids.
