Bandar-e Anzali/ The city of rain/ Gate of Europe 

Bandar-e Anzali is the first and largest port of Iran located at the southern coast of the Caspian sea in Gilan Province. Bandar-e Anzali is one of the most important cities of Iran in terms of tourist, economy, and sport. Geographically, from the north, the port leads to the Caspian sea, from the east it leads to Khoshk-e Bijar city, from the south to Anzali international lagoon, and from the west to Rezvanshahr county. Bandar-e Anzali like other seaports has moderate,humid and rainy climate. Anzali port has been one of the major trade cities between Iran and Europe. In the past the port was known as “ Europe Gate”.

The best choice for staying at a coastal city is coastal villa that you can rent the best of it in Bandar-e Anzali. Anzali port also has good hotels for staying for example Dolphin and Almas hotels that are luxurious and expensive or Sefidkenar and Jahangardi hotels that are suitable but less expensive.

Bandar-e Anzali has different, delicious local foods especially sea food that are mainly cooked with fragrant vegetables. The most popular local foods of the city are:  Khoresh-e Fesenjan, Torshe Kabab,Kal Kabab, Torshe shami, Baghela ghatogh, Sir Ghelieh, different kinds of fish especially Zander, Caspian white fish and Starry sturgeon. Roe, Walnut with Broad been, Borani Bademjan, and Garlic Tursu are the common starters of Anzali port. You can try the local foods of Anzali port in good restaurants of the city like: Haj Morteza, Niloofar Abi, Dolphin and Ti Nan Ti Kabab.

There are some nice cafes in Bandar-e Anzali such as: Dolphin, Rush and Dehkadeh.

What do we buy from Bandar-e Anzali?

Most of the tourists traveling to Bandar-e Anzali prefer to go Anzali free zone for shopping but the port also has traditional Bazaars and modern malls that you can go and buy souvenirs. For example: Anzali’s Shanbeh Bazaar ( Saturday market) which is about 70 years old, Pardis shopping mall, Beach Bazaar, Caspian shopping center, and Gilar Bazaar. The most popular souvenirs of Bandar-e Anzali are different kinds of fish, local vegetables, Garlic Tursu, olive as well as handicrafts like Morvar baskets, Mat, handmade fabric things, and carved woods.

Health and Care 

There is only one hospital in Anzali port which name is “ Shahid Beheshti “. “ Dr. Mirghasemi” and “ Dr. Jalali” are the pharmacies of the port.

There are many attractive places to visit in Bandar-e Anzali such as: Anzali international lagoon which is one of the largest and most interesting natural habitats of animals, Ghazian bridge that was one of the most advanced moveable bridges of the world in its time, Anzali’s Minaret or Clock Tower which is the symbol of the city, Formula Karting club, Mirza Kochak Khan cruise ship, Anzali Palace museum, Mian Poshteh palace, and Saheli boulevard of Anzali port.
