Tabriz, a city without beggers, city of the firsts, the safest city of Iran

Tabriz is the capital city of East Azerbaijan province. Tabriz is the third largest city of Iran after Tehran and Mashhad. The city’s area is 1400 km.  Based on the recent findings, it is estimated that the city is about 4500 years old. Since the city is located in mountainous region it has mild Summer and very cold Winter.

The interesting point about Tabriz is that it was the first capital of Iran in Safavid time and the city for crown princes of Qajar dynasty. Since Tabriz was near the borders of Iran and Ottoman, it was so vulnerable to the threats of Ottoman Empire. Ottoman seized the city so Shah Tahmasp Safavi decided to choose Qazvin as his capital. Tabriz was labeled as “ Dar Al-saltane” in Qajar time and many  Qajarid crown princes was living there. Tabriz is known as the city of the firsts, city without beggars, city of underpass and overpass, the safest city of Iran, second industrial city of Iran, second city of university in Iran, city of chocolate, center of Automative industry of Iran, and one of the most important city of Iran in terms of accepting immigrants.

Where to stay in Tabriz?

There are a lot of luxurious hotels in Tabriz such as Pars Elgoli ( El- Golu) hotel beside Elgoli park, Tabriz international hotel that is located in Daneshgah square and it is a combination of traditional and modern architecture, Shahryar international hotel and Gostaresh hotel. But if you prefer to stay at less expensive hotels, Caspian, Esteghbal, Darya and Aras hotels can be good choices.

Tabriz like other cities of Iran has its own traditional foods like: Carrot Khoresh, Kufteh Tabrizi, Sarma, Kebab, Ash-e Doogh ( Yogurt soup) and Tomato soup. Fortunately, there are many nice luxurious modern and traditional restaurants in Tabriz, for example: Shahryar traditional restaurant, Haj Mohamad Ashpaz, Shandiz, Parviz Shishlik, Delestan, Gazmakh, Haj Ali and Berkeh restaurants as well as 38 degrees Italian restaurant in Daneshgah square.

Tabriz also has some nice cafes like Honar cafe, Amir Chocolate coffee shop, Elgoli cafe, Rex cafe and pastry shop.

What do we buy from Tabriz?

In Tabriz you can buy different kinds of handicrafts such as: Pottery, Suzani ( textile), carpet, carved copper, handmade shoes, embroidery, Kilim, carved wood, ceramic, silver and miniature. Tabriz also has delicious souvenirs like Qurabiya, Lovuez, Baklava, Nougat, Lokum ( Rahat lokum) and nuts. You can buy all these souvenirs from the city’s Bazaars for example Kabud Bazzar, Shishehgar Khaneh Bazaar that is one of the most important Bazaars of Tabriz and Tabriz Grand Bazaar which is the largest brick-made roofed Bazaar in the world and it is one of the Iranian architecture masterpieces. There are also many modern shopping centers in the city like Laleh park shopping center, Bloor commercial center, and Javaher mall.

Healthcare

Tabriz is supplied with good medical services and it has many equipped hospitals such as: Alavi, Al-Qadir, Shafa, Aalinasab, Sina, Behboud, Al-Zahra and Valiasr hospitals. And Tabriz, Dr. Feyzollahi, Dr. Omrani, Fajr, Hilal Ahmar and Pars are pharmacies of the city.

Where to go and visit in Tabriz?

There are a lot of attractive and historical places in Tabriz that we introduce some of them to you: Blue mosque which is known as “ Islam ‘s Turquoise” due to its great various tiles, Arg-e Alishah ( Arch of Alishah) that is one of the highest historical walls of Iran and it is the symbol of Tabriz, Elgoli park which is labeled as the first internet park of Iran, Harir house which is the symbol of Iranian miniature, Municipal museum, Azerbaijan museum, Constitution house, Qajar museum, Tabriz old Bazaar, Saint Mary church, and Lighvan valley which is located near the city and has a great natural landscape.
