Sarein is a tourist city of Ardabil province that is located in 30 km from the west of Ardabil city. The main tourist attraction of the city is its hot springs that are good for health. Actually Sarein is known for its hot springs. The city has moderate summers and cold,snowy winters. In addition to the hot springs, the city has two cold water pools that have drinking carbonated water. The pools are located in a village called “ Vila Darreh” in 5 km from Sarein. The village has wonderful nature and landscape.

The name of the city had been chosen property, since in Persian dictionary Sarein means “ spring “. In the past the city had different names such as Sari Qayah, Sarqin, and Saraeein. Honey and Kaymak are the most popular souvenirs of the regions around Sabalan mountain especially Sarein. Foothills of Sabalan are suitable for beekeeping due to its various vegetation types and climate. The best kind of honey is produced there which is very popular in Iran and the world.

Since Sarein is a tourist city it has a lot of hotels at different prices. The best hotels of the city are: Laleh, Anahita, Olympics, Ershad, Atrak, Rezvan Khalij Fars, Darya, Pedram, Boostan, Khayyam, Sepid, Kabir, Sassan, Ali, Oranous, Sehat, and Gahve Suyi.

The most popular local food of Sarein is Ash-e Doogh ( Yogurt soup). The city also has other local food such as: Different kinds of Kebabs and Ash, Abgoosht ( Dizi), Bozbash, Sarjaiji, and Kaljoosh. You can try those delicious food in good restaurants of the city like Adl, Lania, Farzad, Sib, Sahel, Pedare Khoob, Atrak, Shayan and Sahand.

There are some nice cafes in Sarein that you can go and enjoy your time for example Day and Minoo cafes.

What do we buy from Sarein?

Jaijm is the most popular souvenir of Sarein. Kilim, Varni, woollen socks, Saddlebag, and Felt are the other handicrafts of the city. Honey is also the delicious souvenir of Sarein. You can buy those souvenirs from the city’s Bazaars. If you like modern shopping center, Laleh mall can be a good choice for you.

As it was mentioned before hot springs of Sarein like Gavmish Goli, Sari soo, and Qarah soo are the most popular attractions of the city. Sarein has other attractions to visit such as: Alvares ski resort which is one of the best ski resorts of Iran, Anahita hill that is related to 2nd millennium BC, Kanzaq historical village that its rock houses are related to 1st millennium BC, Bilah Daraq village, Gorgor waterfall and Alvares valley.
