Borujerd/ Daralsorour

Borujerd is the industrial and second populous city of Lorestan province in the west of Iran. The city has a lot of tourist attractions and it is titled as “ Daralsorour” since it has mountainous nature as well as green ranches and desirable weather. There are more than 200 ancient houses in Borujerd related to Qajar dynasty. The city also has the third largest historical texture of Iran in an area of 270 hectares.

Historical signs of the city’s cemeteries and ancient hills indicate the habitation of human beings in Borujerd at least 3000 years BC. Borujerd was the capital of Iran during Sassanid era and it had great fire temples. It is said that the city was built by Peroz I ( king of Sassanid Empire). The city is considered as earthquake zone of Iran since it is located on Zagros FTB. Borujerd has cold, mountainous climate with snowy winters and mild summers. Sometimes in winters, some parts of the city has more than 70 frosty days.

The local food of any city is part of the city’s culture. The most popular food of Borujerd is Kebab which is served with Sangak bread, Doogh and vegetables. You can try the best kind of Kebab at Rezaei Barbecue restaurant and Haj Shafi traditional chicken  restaurant. The city also has other local food such as: Ash-e Tarkhineh, Ash-e Varkoaz, Ash-e Bonsor, Ash-e Masoa, Eshkeneh, Haleem, Sarma, Shami Kebab, and Khoresh-e Gheimeh. There are many good restaurants in the city that you can go and try those food for example: Lorestani Kabab, Pedarsalar, Sadaf, Aftab, Zapata, Calcio, Ator Fast Food,Palizvan Kabab, Fil & Fenjoun, Venous, Kabab Saraye Hosseini, and Abed Falafel.

What do we buy from Borujerd?

The most popular souvenir of Borujerd is “ Nickel silver “ . Nickel silver industry of Borujerd which is about two centuries old, make the city popular in the world. Making nickel silver things has been common in Borujerd since Saljuq, Safavid and especially Qajar eras. Jajim, Carpet,and Kilim are other souvenirs of the city. Borujerd also has delicious souvenirs like Baslogh, Rahat lokum, bread, cookie, grape syrup, different kinds of Halva and jam especially Citron jam. You can buy those souvenirs from Borujerd’s great Bazaar. You can also go Safa, Shohada, Bahar and Takhti streets of Borujerd for shopping.

The most popular attractions of Borujerd are: Kapargah Defile, Bishedalan Wetland, Soltani Mosque, Ethnological Museum, Goldasht Tourist District, Mesri House, Jame Mosque of Borujerd, Chogha Hill, Hatam Bridge, Tomb of Imamzadeh Jafar, Fadak Park, Chalancholan Bridge, and Yadbud Park.
