Golestan Palace is a complex of buildings located in Arg Square in Tehran. The buildings of these palaces have been constructed at different times.
The name of the palace was taken from the name of a hall in an exterior building of the palace which is also called Golestan. The construction of the complex started during the reign of Tahmasp I and it was expanded during the Qajar Era and when it was done, Qajar kings resided there. During the Pahlavi Era, this palace was the place to hold formal gatherings and a residing area for the presidents and foreign and special guests. Some parts of the palace have been destroyed during that time. Many special events of the contemporary history of Iran has happened in this complex. Today this complex has been turned into a museum.

The design of this complex is a mix of Persian architecture and pre and post-Islamic architecture.

It has soothing weather because 180 hectares of it are natural forest, spring, aqueduct, gardens, a greenhouse, a river, and streets full of trees and flowers. First, this palace was a residing area for the Qajar family and their royal relatives. At night, you can go to the Palladium Shopping Center. This is one of the most famous and at the same time the best shopping centers in Tehran, which is located in Zafaranieh neighborhood. Day Four in Tehran
On this day we will start our tour by visiting National Garden or Baghe Meli. This garden is one of the monuments that remained from the Qajar Era which was established by Jafar Khan Kashani. A post office and the ministry of foreign affairs are near this garden. This garden and its nearby buildings were built by the order of Reza Pahlavi, and it was done by the financial help of the Germans. This happened before World War 2 in Tehran, the Capital city of the empire of that time. The interior of these buildings was designed with pictures of Cyrus and Achaemenes people. These pictures were chosen to introduce Persian culture to the world. On the main gateway, there was a picture of Iran's previous flag (lion and sun) carved, but since this flag belonged to Pahlavi Era, after the Islamic revolution this carving was erased. Many historical Persian series and movies have been filmed in this garden. Then continue our sightseeing by visiting Abgineh Museum. In this museum, you can see a unique collection of pottery and glassworks.

What do we buy from Tehran?
Although souvenir is a part of Iranian culture, Tehran does not have any special souvenir. Some people think that the new things that are not found in other cities of Iran are souvenirs of Tehran. The new things that persuade people from different cities to travel to Tehran can be considered as Tehran's souvenirs. Tehran Grand Bazaar, Tajrish Bazaar, and Crystal Bazaar of Shoosh are the most popular and important shopping centers in Tehran. Tandis, Tirajeh, Milad Noor, Palladium, Goldis, Vanak, and Diamond are also the most famous modern shopping centers in Tehran.
