Iranian Musical Instruments

Iranian musical instruments are in two kinds: traditional and modern. These instruments include the Tanbur, Reed, Tar, Setar,  Daf, Santour, Fiddle, Tonbak, etc.

Tanbour

Tanbour is one of the oldest and mystical instruments in Iran. It is larger than Setar, and in ancient times it was known as Dotar. Archaeologists believe that this instrument has 6,000 years old.

They are often found around a table with Haft Sîn , 7 specific objects corresponding to the 7 creations and the 7 immortals. Gifts are also sometimes exchanged.
