Vank Cathedral and Museum
In the 11th century a group of Armenians, residing in in the current Armenia moved to Isfahan and stayed in a village, South West of Isfahan. They named this village Jolfa. Safavid kings ordered for religious freedom in that village in order to protect the minority of Armenians.
Among this minority group were some people who were in trades and people who had technological knowledge of that time. A few churched were built with the help of some merchants, Vank Cathedral was among those churches.
Today Jolfa is part of Isfahan City. Vank Cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches with a mix design of Persian and European architecture. The interior of the church is designed with moldings, paintings and gliding. There is a valuable museum next to this cathedral and valuable paintings, inscriptions and other expensive and cherished objects are kept there.
